Cards are the new way to unlock new customization content in Gears of War 4 that represent a variety of items - from player customization, to Horde equipment and abilities, and Bounties that task players with completing challenges for added rewards. First of all, I'd like to say that I did enjoy the campaign and actually think it was pretty awesome overall. But I couldn't let unoticed that it seemed to me the new enemies added in the game weren't as funny to battle against as they were in the previous games of the franchise.They added the DeBees which I actually enjoyed quite a bunch, but wasn't that special either. It was a good addition, but not something I'd put beyond the best enemies in the franchise cause they weren't particulary new to be honest (they act pretty much like the regular Locust and Swarm).But the Swarms. The regular ones I liked (Juvies, Drones, Scions). They're basically the Locust which were always fun to beat and chainsaw. But the trully new additions, I think they could have done better.The Carrier. When I watched their 1st gameplay and the pouncer was shown up, it got me pretty excited, it seemed to me they would put up some interesting fights. I was wrong.The pouncers are bulletsponges. It seems there's no strategy to beat other than unload your Lancer or Gnasher against them, and hope to hit their chest when they jump at you. Their weakspot is rarely vulnerable and they just keep shooting things at you or try to eat your friends unsucessfully.Not a very fun enemy to fight against. At some point their encounters were more like a chore.The Snatcher. This is the reason why I did this thread. Fuck the Snatcher! Whoever came with the idea of creating this damn creature shoud rethink what made enemies in Gears of War fun!It wasn't fun at all to fight against them. Not a single time!! All the time I was fighting this thing it was constantly watching my character or my allies getting one shotted and then shooting the enemy belly till he vomit the character out of it.This guy right there basically knock you out with any move he decides to target against you. The projectile is unavoidable (you have to be behind cover when he aim them against you), their 'ground punch' area of effect is also pretty wide. Then he eats the guy he knocks out and try to run away. If he manages you lose.-That said. I think the game had some great gameplay improvements. The vehicle part was actually fun (I never really liked them in the previous games). The graphics were pretty amazing and game runs smoothly. It was a good game with potential to be the best campain, in my opinion.But I feel like they didn't manage to get the enemies right. What they added that really felt new (and not a different skin of previous enemies) wasn't as good as it should be. I also didn't like the Fabricator sections, and the ending was. Well, I wasn't expecting it to end like that.Edit:If a mod see this thread: could you please correct the title for me? I wrote 'enem eies' by mistake. I am conflicted in terms of the boss enemies. One one hand, I thought they looked cool and seemed interesting enough in terms of what they did, how they moved etc., but I feel like they were mostly damage sponges. I think they would have been better if there was more ways to 'open them up' and expose their weak spots, even if they ended up taking the same amount of damage to kill. As they are right now, a lot of the time fighting them is just waiting for them to go into a certain animation loop so you can target them, which is not very active on the player's part.All this said, fuck all of the 'boss' characters on insane. Their shit is so cheap and when playing through the campaign I had to cheese my way through some of the boss fights.Also, as you said the normal ground enemies were great. I do not think they were particularly creative and most of them filled some sort of enemy archetype that existed in previous Gears games, but the execution of the archetype was better in Gears 4 than any previous Gears game. If you play in a high difficult, they are, for sure, a pain the ass. The pouncer is not a bulletsponge because of his shell so you must hit them from below, on their bellies which is difficult because you can barely see them and they're constantly moving around. Snatchers are really overpowered, giving you a dense battle, specially on Insane mode.Don't know which difficult setting did you play but take a chance on High or Insane mode and then tell me if the enemies are or not challenging. I actually liked the campaing quite a lot. But I don't think you're being crazy either.I liked it more than Judgement. But I can't deny that the characters weren't nearly as iconic as the characters from the previous games. Definitely a step back in that regard. Also, the fabricator sections were quite boring in my opinion and that dragged the campaing a little bit for me. The end was also a bit silly, it's literally one of those endings that happens out of nowhere.I don't know. For me at least Gears of War 3 is deifinitely the best. I have mixed feelings about positioning Gears 1, 2 and 4. Judgement is the one I like the least (I still liked it though). I actually like all the new enemies and bosses in Gears 4. IMO, the worst that the entire series had to offer was the Lambent Zerker. It had a small weakpoint on its chest that could only take damage at certain times, triggered by certain weapons. It really slowed down Horde mode anytime it came up. The new Carrier in 4 has those same negative traits, but it at least feels like it takes SOME damage when not the weakpoint isn't open. Plus the Carrier at least stops for a moment when its weakpoint is open, where the Zerker only had it open when it was about to run at somebody or had just run into something. Very brief periods either way.I play a ton of Horde mode so I see these bosses all the time. I think the new ones are pretty good additions that break things up and if you know what you're doing, they don't completely annihilate your base leaving you with a feeling you were just cheated somehow. When they were equipped with the dropshot it was pretty much white knuckle.The snatchers I only had trouble with the in the last act during that one segment. You know when. I think they wanted to make it less cover and more dynamic enemies. Something all devs are doing so people cannot hide and popshot or take their time but it just wasn't fun.Overall the game is great. Coalition is great. Jack and the eSports team is great. The campaign was decent storywise. The music and the atmosphere was great. Graphics were amazing. It is a shame how much damage Judgment did. This is also a game they should have released on steam. PC'ers would have loved horde more. Xbox One has really harmed their own franchise with this gen. Hell no, the only difference is that if you didnt do what the game expected you to do you couldnt kill those bosses,on gears 4 there are ways to do more demage to the bosses, instead of just, 'point HoD at berserker, then just shoot a it until it dies' and then with the corpser's 'shoot at weak spot, then shoot at belly till it dies' it is the same shit,being worse on the first one, becuase they wouldnt die if you didnt do that. On 4 you can do it or not, its up to you.i mean come on even raam is the same, wait for the kryll shield to dispel or shoot him an arrow, and then shoot a it until it diesyou are just more fond of gears 1 because well, nostalgia and stuff.also there is more enemy variety on gears 4, the problem is the differentation, gears 1 nailed it, you could tell who was a drone, a granadier, a sniper a theron. They were capable to vary the gameplay a bit, before you jump back to the regular enemies and shoot at will. And they were great boss fights generally!Maybe in Gears 4 they attempted to make it less scripted, but they also weren't able to deliver such great moments with them. Also, besides being less scripted I think they were not very well executed. And it isn't nostalgia cause before playing Gears 4 I did a marathon of Gears UE, 2, 3 and Judgement on Xbox One.Gears 4 isn't the worst Gears of War for me (it goes to Judgement cause I didn't like the level structures based on waves - as I didn't like the fabricator sections in Gears 4). And I actually have a hard time telling which one is the worst and the best between Gears 1, 2 and 4, cause all of them have some aspects that I like and dislike more than others - I can't deny that Gears 1 feels a bit outdated nowadays compared to the other games of the franchise. But I expected so much more about the enemies in Gears 4, specially coming from Gears 3 (which is the richest of them all in that aspect). For me it was one of it's biggest issues. I enjoyed Gears 4 campaign, but the enemies are a low point. DeeBees were ok, but the encounter design was generally awful. Loved the Scions, but again the encounter design with the Swarm was lacking. Felt like arena rooms with the same wave/spawn structure again and again rather than the gauntlets in say Gears 1. Pouncers and Snatchers weren't well executed. The former is indeed a bullet sponge unless the chainsaw attack can be done or the input issues subside enough to successfully tag them (if they hold still and don't spam spikes into you). Snatchers weren't particularly reactive and again were tanks without the tricks possible for the Pouncers. Clearly they were balanced solely for co-op play. Carriers were ok, despite being a bit too predictable. Last boss was fun, if not repetitive. Didn't help that the game cuts off right then unexpectedly. Other bosses I hardly remember.
