So last night I set my alarm on my phone like always, plugged it into the charger and went to sleep. I woke up early and freaked out because I didn't hear my alarm (thankfully I was early to wake). I checked my phone and noticed it wasn't coming on. I figured maybe it wasn't plugged in and just died. Nope it was fully plugged in, and my power was on with no signs of it surging or going out in the night anywhere in the house. (Blinking clocks, etc).I did a little searching online before I had to leave for work and was told that pressing and holding the power button and home button for a few seconds usually helps. This did nothing even after about 5-10 seconds. I was running short on time as I had to leave, so I plugged it into my computer, nothing. I brought up iTunes and it recognized the iPhone as being in 'Recovery Mode'. Now this is my first iPhone. I switched over from an android phone on the first of March this year. So its not very old. It said that restoring the phone would wipe all the media data and such I have on there. I'm fine with that. Nothing I can't really get back easily aside from a few photos that aren't a huge deal. The iPhone lights up, with what looks like a progress bar. Awesome I though, and I went to work. I've come home, and the progress bar hasn't moved at all. ITunes still says the exact same thing as it did when I left. I plugged it in at 8am this morning. Its now 3pm in the afternoon, and nothing has changed. Its still not responding, and I don't know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is what I see on my phone, and desktop. Its plugged in in this photo. ITunes reads: 'Waiting for iPhone' swirling progress bar'iPhone Recovery ModeiTunes is restoring the software on this iPhone'Now I'm no expert, but I feel like 7 hours is more than enough time to do this with no one else home using the internet, and it basically having the computer to itself. Give it a shot at restoring in dfu mode.Make sure the volume on your computer is up.Plug your phone into the computer.Hold the lock and home button until you hear the sound of it disconnecting.Once you hear that sound, release the lock button, but continue to hold the power button, probably for about 15 seconds or until it sounds like you've plugged something in.If done correctly, your devices screen will be black. And not wake. Much like how it sounds like it was before hand.It will also open up an iTunes window saying that its in recovery mode. It should only take 10-15 minutes max. Unless it has to download the firmware, in which case to 10-15 minutes plus however long the download will take.If it takes longer then that, restart your computer, then try and restore again. Iphone 5 Turns On And Off While ChargingWhen the phone operating system is off, the hardware still remains sensitive to the introduction of charging power to the 30 pin dock connector. Not only does this help in cases where the OS has frozen and run down the battery past the point where available voltage can even run the system (including the charging circuitry) but it also helps in the more common case of 'my phone is dead' and I'd like it back without having to press buttons. Depending on how long the battery self-discharged after crossing the 'empty' line, it may need tens of seconds or even minutes of charging to get back to the minimum viable voltage. Iphone 6 Won't Turn On Or ChargeAt that point, the sleep/wake button can become effective again for starting the OS.You can of course plug in the power and then shut off the phone to bypass this behavior. The charging circuitry runs whether the OS is running or not, and that circuitry is what kicks the OS to start when it senses a connection event on the 30 pin connector and the OS is not currently running.
